Project listing of SoilMovers LLC lake building, rural ranch retreats and excavation jobs.
SoilMovers LLC has been building premium water projects for over 10 years as the primary contractor on the job. Our jobs have ranged from minor adjustments and clean up of existing rural lake properties all the way up to large tracts of land with zero existing improvement. We have unloaded our bulldozers on the public road and actually had to build the first access to the property from that point.
There is no substitute for knowledge and experience. Do it right the first time!
Lake Renovation and Upgrade Near Ranger TX,
This land tract is approximately 165 acres located near Ranger, West Texas. Terrain is a typical North Texas rolling landscape with a primary cover of oak trees in varying sizes supported by an average yearly rainfall of 29 inches. The soils are sandy loam on top with layers of clay and some rock. The project goal was to renovate an existing 2 surface acre pond/lake/tank into a more aesthetic area with proper depths for fishing and recreation.
A challenging clearing and lake building infrastructure project near Madisonville, TX
This land tract is approximately 800 acres high fenced located near Madisonville, TX. The terrain is rolling with some significant elevation changes for the area. The vegetation is dense with brush 8-10 feet high and mostly pine trees averaging 60 to +100 feet in height. Logging roads are the only means of traversing the interior of the property. There are no existing bodies of water on the property. The project goal is to create a lake of at least 5 acres on this site.
The landowner has spent several years evaluating the property and settled on an area to build the lake along an existing creek. The watershed coming through this area is estimated at several hundred acres with an annual rainfall in this region of Texas of more than 40 inches. Core borings done at multiple locations within this site revealed varying soils of sand, clay and groundwater. Consequently a worst case scenario of using a plastic liner to hold the water is a possibility.

West Texas lake renovation near Abilene, TX
The current project near Abilene, Texas is a 400 acre tract of land that covers a creek bottom as well as a relatively high ridge. When it comes to land, large mature trees are always a great aesthetic feature to build on but hard to come by in areas where the annual rainfall is not over 28 inches. With an average rainfall of only 24 inches this land tract is mostly covered with mesquite and cedar, surrounded by open farmland that is relatively flat. The only thing going for this piece of Texas dirt is an existing spring fed lake that is generic in design and the ridge that it is situated on. The fascinating part of this unique project are the springs that materialized on TOP of the ridge.

The site is an organic livestock farm of approximately 100 acres located near Austin TX. The project goal is to build a lake/water reservoir that will serve three primary purposes:
1- A reliable water source for the farm in an area where water wells are not obtainable.
2- A recreational site for the family.
3- Increase the overall land value by creating a water feature that blends with the landscape and adds considerable aesthetic value to the property. In many cases such as this, project expenditures can easily return 2X in added value.
The problems associated with the project are:
1- Designing the site to fit the landscape and compliment the architecturally designed structures that are already in place.
2- Difficult soils that include sand, clay, rock and vast amounts of deep mud from an existing failed tank.
3- Clever and proper placement of the spoils dirt generated by the excavation for depth process. (continue reading)
Mason County Texas leaking lake repair and expansion. The land tract is approximately 500 acres located in Mason County Texas. The land is rolling with dynamic elevation changes and granite outcroppings. Mature oak trees and mesquites are the primary vegetation. The project is expanding an existing tank to approximately one surface acre and installing a plastic liner to make the pond hold water. The first order of business is to clear the mesquite trees so as to enhance the existing oak trees and to get a better idea on how to design the project. One of the primary challenges associated with the project (continue reading)
Double Lake Build plus Infrastructure – North Zulch, Texas. The rural land tract is 160 +/- acres located close to North Zulch, Texas. Multi Use Lake Construction Project – Graford,TX
An ambitious project involving the construction of 6 lakes. 3 of the lakes were placed upstream of the showcase lake to provide stock water and filtration of the water flowing into the showcase lake. This greatly reduces silting of the main lake. One lake was constructed in a remote area of the tract to provide stock water and the last lake was constructed specifically as a duck hunting venue. Water for stock is extremely important in this area as there is no ground water readily available. Read more………
