| All soils leak, some types more than others. Keeping a body
of water full provides better water quality, greater fishing and
a more scenic view.
Water Features Add Value Soilmovers LLC geomembrane lake liner projects have fallen in to two categories: Renovating a leaking lake- We are called in after the land owner usually tries several unsuccessful remedies at great cost. In most cases, the lake construction catastrophe could have been averted by proper soil testing prior to any construction. Certain types of soils will simply not hold water. Typically, we see 7 out of 10 clay or bentonite liners fail. New construction in a less than ideal site- Sometimes the land owner has the ideal spot for a great trophy fishing lake or recreation lake. It is scenic, fits well with existing terrain, has adequate watershed to fill the lake and is in a location convenient to recreational use and fishing. BUT - the soil tests we perform indicate the location is less than ideal for holding water. At this point, the landowner needs to question an unscrupulous contractor. Many contractors want the job so badly they will tell the land owner anything in order to get the job. Lining the lake bed with on site heavy clay or using a bentonite clay liner are typical schemes we run across. The only guaranteed solution is a geomembrane plastic lake liner. Geomembrane plastic liner use in tandem with solid design turns a less than ideal piece of land into a valuable asset. In addition, geomembrane liner use prevents seepage loss thereby conserving millions of gallon of water annually.
Experience counts. The plastic lining you choose is dependent upon many site unique factors. It's why we don't have any "canned solutions" to offer you. Many times we can save you both time and money in your lake lining choice based upon our hands on past experience with assorted lake liner projects. .
Types of Geomembrane Lake Liners PVC Geomembranes - (Poly Vinyl Chloride)
Description — PVC has high puncture strength and excellent abrasion resistance. It is resistant to a number of industrial chemicals. Because of its high flexibility, PVC liners readily conform to subgrade contours and offer excellent interface friction without being textured. The use of a PVC geomembrane liner prevents contaminants from entering groundwater sources or streams. In addition, it conserves potable water resources by preventing seepage loss. PVC is available in a variety of formulations including fish grade and oil resistant. It is available in 20 mil, 30 mil, 40 mil and 60 mil.
Fabrication — HDPE - (High Density Polyethylene)
Description — HDPE is an excellent product for large applications that require UV and Ozone resistance, chemical resistance or high-quality installations. Typically used in landfill and mining applications, this product is delivered in large rolls with a width of 22.5' and is heat welded in the field by trained technicians providing a high quality, test certified installation. HDPE offers the most cost effective liner for large projects. HDPE is available in thicknesses ranging from 40 to 120 mil. HDPE Lining materials are a cost-effective choice for exposed lining projects. This product has been used in landfills, WWT lagoons, animal waste lagoons and mining applications. |
