Cleburne Lake Project

Cleburne Lake Renovation Project - Texas  Fall 2006

Lake Renovation near Cleburne, Texas
August – December 2006

The landowner was unhappy with the depth of his lake. During periods of drought, strips of land were visible across the lake. During our preliminary inspection, it was discovered the average depth was only 4 feet.

With livestock on the premises and reaching the second year of drought conditions, the owner was concerned about losing all of the existing water for construction to begin.

With that in mind, we dug two very deep areas to drain the water into. These areas would eventually tie into the new lake. The rest of the water was released thru the dam where it discharged down a draw.

With the dry weather, the original lake bed dried up fairly quickly and the major lake construction began in November and finished in December. Fortunately for all of us, the rains held off until the holidays and the lake filled up rather quickly. The winter grasses are established preventing erosion.
